Gears...

So some of you know... I'm on the hunt for the right gear ratio... So I'll keep this short and simple..

4.88's or 5.13's?

Ending plan is 37's... some wheelin, mostly snow at that... And a functioning DD.

Stuck with 4.88's since 4.88 is the deepest you can get for the front. Unless you toss this D44 in it that I've got sittin....

Solid axle is on the list.... However, for the time being, I need to get this done now. It just makes sense, because I don't know when I'm going to get to doing that...

Well, I can't afford to just let it sit... I have to work M-F and I can't bum rides for months acquiring parts and stuff...

So it's currently in progress.

Gonna be geared and locked by Wednesday afternoon...

Front is going 4.88's and master install kit with new bearings and seals... Staying open diff, the D35 is just too weak for a locker.

Rear is also going 4.88's with a Spartan Lunchbox locker (Randy's Ring and Pinion)

Including the price of the gears, locker and install on everything I'm lookin at just over $900... Hell of a deal if you ask me.

There's a guy that lives near Shane and I... He's gotta be close to 60 and owns and runs his own 4wd fab shop from his property he lives on (work in the shop though)... Called KnA Offroad (Kickin A$$ Offroad)... He even builds his own wheelers.. Like his Datsun he's got with a 350, C/O front on 40's with bead locks.. His samurai he dropped a 4.3 Chey EFI motor in on 37's with D44's F&R with geared t-case to 6.5:1 and his newest project... Takin the 92 7.3IDI Diesel from his Ford and dropping in a Cummins 12V... He's legit as ****, works for himself, no employees so there's no overhead... He's being doing this stuff all his life and stands behind everything he does... He's awesome

Well I did some research on the Spartan, Darell said he's been installing a lot of them and recommends them to people but it doesn't appear to be made for the 31-spline 8.8... So I may have to go wit ha Lock Rite instead... Or possibly an Aussie like Shanes... But I'm not sure yet..
