should i worry?
i was offroading last week and i had it in four low. there was a part where i came out of a hole and onto a slick muddy embankment. it put me up on three wheels. my front right was off the ground. my abs light was on at this point(cant remember when it came on) but my front tires were not spinning at all. i got jerked out and pulled up, shut the truck off for a bit while my friend laughed it up cuz he got caught in the same predicament but only two of his tires spin when hes in 4wd.(isuzu trooper) and his front drive wheel was off the ground so he was out of luck.
to get to my question. when the abs light is on, is the front axle disabled somehow? or should i start worrying.
on the same side trail as this hole (so it was a small stretch of land) i had to put it in 4 lo and it pulled me out so i know the front was pulling then. do i need to start to worry?
also, my abs light didnt turn back on when i started my truck again.

That light is telling you that there is a fault in your ABS system. Basicly when you are mudding it is telling you that mud has gotten on the wheel speed sensors and ABS is then dissalbled, then when the mud falls off and you turn the truck back on its back to normal again. Nothing to worry about till the light stays on. And no, it doesnt dissable the front axle..

so what would cause my axle to stop spinning? if i had power to the front wheels then i coulda gotten out of the hole and my friend would stop comparing his trooper to my ranger.
i ran back through the trail in 4wd and it worked like a dream that way. course there was no three wheeling acton.

Which wheel was off the ground? Your front end is an open differential so depending on which one it was that would cause it. You said it did fine a second time with all 4 on the ground, thats because all the wheels had equal traction and had torque distributed to all four evenly... get it?
