I got an aluminium ford ribbed cover . but when I tried to install jnner fin. hit ring gear 8.8 electric lock up I ground the offending fin off. I was wondering if anyone else has done this mod?.

Welcome to the forum

What electric lockup?

Image here shows the Tone Ring on the back side of ring gear: http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/pics...rier02_720.jpg
Tone ring is for the ABS sensor mounted on the differential

They have been used since Rangers first got Rear ABS in the late 1980's early 1990's, so surprised a cover wouldn't have space for this?

Makes me glad I didn't buy the exact same cover for my V8 swap truck with the 8.8" 31 spline Torsen in it..

I was hovering the cursor over the Buy it Now on that cover forever but decided it could wait. I'll focus on the brake upgrades and regear first..

So it fits now then? With no rubbing after everything heats up?

I'd stick some Playdoh or clay on the inside of the cover and then bolt it on. Remove and see if any marks are left on the Playdoh or clay. That'll tell you pretty quickly if it's too close.
