92 Gearing

I've got a 92 3.0 2wd shortbed, 5 speed and I was wondering what is the most likely rear gearing, or how do I determine what the gearing is?

I realized that this truck was produced when the national speed limit was still 55 (hence the big red dot at 55 on the speedo) and it does not seem real happy trying to run 70-75 on interstate traffic. It doesn't have a tach, but I can tell it is winding along pretty good.

Anyone else encountered this and done anything to address it?

with the 3.0 the higher the rpm the better (to a degree) that V6 makes its power higher in the rpm band than the other ranger motors, its quite happy at 2,500-3,000. much under 2,000 and it will be lugging. 3.73's -4.10's would be a good ratio for this engine. it could possibly have 3.55's being a std cab 2wd. only way to be sure is to check out the axle codes.

I had a 92 2wd with the 3.0 and it had the 3.55 gearing so more than likely that's what you have if it's stock.
