I have a 94 ranger and am just struggling to find the right shifter as I'm new to ordering part and even working on cars in general if someone could just help point me in the right direction to a less the 70$ replacement for my shifter I need the full thing assembly and shaft and ect. to bolt it up and shift into gear

You have an M5OD-R1 transmission, aka M5R1, in a 1994 Ranger 4.0l
1988-2000 M5R1 shifter from any model Ranger or 1994 and up Mazda B-series shifters will work
2WD or 4x4 doesn't matter, and if you just need the shifter parts then engine model doesn't matter either

These have a one-piece transmission case, no separate bell housing, in an accident the bell housing can break/crack, making the transmission scrap metal in most cases, which is good for you, lol
But you have to find one before its scrapped

Call the local wrecking yards that list Ranger parts and tell them what you need, shifter plus bushing and bolts, boot ??
