94 ranger 4x4 front hub question
Hi i own a 1994 ford ranger XLT 4x4 and i recently noticed that my driver side hub is missing the snap ring and axle spacer. I know i need then to drive in 4x4. I cannot seem to find just the two parts i need to buy a whole new hub. A mechanic at the local transmission shop suggested getting a pair of warn hubs because they dont need the factory snap ring and axle spacer would this be the same if i bough a set of rugged ridge ones (i want them because they are much cheaper) the best would be if someone could link me a wayto order the snap ring and spacer. Here is a link to the hubs i want. Locking Hubs Ford Ranger 90 97 | eBay

What did you do about the missing snap ring and spacer
My 94 Ranger is also missing a snap ring and spacer on the driver side front 4x4 hub. Every thing seems to work fine and there is not a unusual amount of play in the hub. How is it possible that these parts are missing I don't see a groove in the spindle for the snap ring. The right fount spindle has the snap ring and spacer the left side has no spacer or snap ring.

Welcome to the forum
1983 thru 1997 Ranger 4x4s came with either Manual or Automatic locking front hubs
These years also used a TTB (Twin Traction Beam) setup, but with two different sizes, Dana 28 and Dana 35
Look here to see which one you have: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...les-1983-1997/
Visual differences are easy to spot
You can convert manual to auto and auto to manual locks, they were interchangeable
Auto to manual was the popular choice since auto hubs sometimes wouldn't engage, and you wouldn't know it until you actually NEEDED 4WD, lol
Article here on that swap: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...ub-conversion/
This article shows all the PARTS used on both types
1994 Ranger most likely has Dana 35 TTB with auto hubs, mine does, lol, but........................you should know what you have if you need to get parts

Mine has manual locking hubs and the left side is missing the spring clip and spacer, every thing seems fairly tight and seems to work ok. There is not a groove in the spindle so I would not be able to insert a spring clip even if I had one. The right hand hub looks good, the way its supposed to look in the manual.
