Icon5 95 Ranger 4.0L manual tranny clutch issues?

Hello folks I've got a question about me Ranger. It's a 95 4.0L manual 2wd reg cab. (Best vehicle I've ever owned). Anyway, a few months back she stranded me at a Captain D's drive thru. When I let out on the clutch, nothing happened. It was just like I was still holding the clutch in. I got a friend to tow me home and since it's not my main mode of transportation anymore, i parked her. Well the other day as I was routinely cranking it up for good health, I let out on the clutch just for fun and it pulled like no problem. I drove around the yard with no problem. It shifted as it always had. What could be my problem? It seems that if the clutch had failed, then it would never start to work again? Right? Any help is greatly appreciated.

sounds like the problem my truck had when it first came around. throwout bearing and slave cylinder Assembly. it can wear out and get "sticky." it'll drop out on you, then work fine another day.

Thanks man. Kind of what I figured, but I had I glimmer of hope that someone would tell me to lube a joint somewhere (so to speak).

nope sorry lol. its a pain. and you cant just spray lube up there cause it'll get all over the friction surfaces.
