98 b4000 4x4 trans swap
98 mazda B4000 4x4. 5r55e trans is toast. New is 2 grand, used one is 850. found one from a 2002 ford explorer 2 door sport. I am aware of the extra speed sensor, which isn't needed but wondering if the trans from the 2 door will work, or does it have to be from the 4 door model?

Welcome to the forum
Trans must be from same engine size, 4.0l, OHV or SOHC doesn't matter, just 4.0l
Also must match 2WD or 4x4, can't convert these, so must be 4x4 trans for your B4000 4x4 or transfer case can't be bolted on
2002 explorer may also have 5R55S or 5R55W even with a 4.0l engine, so get more info on it, must be a 5R55E
Check on getting yours rebuilt, or core exchange for one that is already rebuilt.
Used automatics are not a great gamble, if you can test drive it its one thing, but often that is not the case, if it was $400 then maybe roll the dice, but at 1/2 the price of rebuilt you will most likely just be buying someone else problem.
Seller can not guaranty it, so ignore that part if offered, lol, they won't pay for removal and reinstall if it fails and if its an "on-line" seller then "you installed it wrong" so no warranty, or "we don't have another used one of those yet, so you will have to wait until we do", or "we have a lower mile one for ONLY $400 more?

Thanks Ron.
Trans would be from our provincial government salvage. Doesn't specify the reasons for it being written off, but the pics show a pretty decent lil truck.
Anyways, the following is the info on it.
2002 transmission assembly ford explorer.2dr sport pkg. 4x4, 111524, 4.0. grade A part. And shows up in the search results as AT 6-245 4x4 4.0
Sgi warranty's their used stuff for 3 months.
At 2000 bucks for a rebuilt, that includes takes, shipping and core return charges. And yes, I would verify that its 5r55e before I bought it
