99 3.0 4R44E 4x4

I am having problems with my Ranger shifting into OD. When I first start it up it drives perfect. All shifts are on time and nice and smooth. Once I have driven maybe 20 mi or so the trans shifts out of OD and the "OD Off" Light starts flashing. If (while moving 65-70mph) I turn the key off and then back on, OD comes back for 2-15 more miles. I can tell when its about to do to cuz the pedal feels as though it right on the threshold of kicking out of OD. Kinda like i have to push harder on the pedal to maintain the same speed. Then all of a sudden the trans kicks out of OD and the light starts flashing. I scanned the comp at one point with no luck, However, I had already reset the comp by turning key off and then back on a sec later like I explained earlier. I am going to try and scan it again today without resetting it and see what happens.

Anyone else run into a similar prob??? Help PLZ!!!

Common OBDII readers may not be able to pull transmission-specific codes. Ford dealers and trans shops should have a more sophisticated scanner that can pull them.

Well, A dude that I work with has access to a Ford dealers scan tool so he is going to bring it in today to work and scan it. Hopefully that finds the prob.

Well, we scanned the comp and found 4 codes. One was a evap leak which I knew of, one was a bullshoit code saying that it needed ran more and the other two were trans codes. P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off. There was another code but i can remember what it was. the code reader say the say thing as the P0741, Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off. I'll do a lil more reserch and see what I can dig up. I just found a thread on a Ford Explorer and Ranger Enthusiast Forums - Serious Explorations just incase anyone else is looking for some info.

The dude at work said that the torque converter code is most likely some sort of pressure switch located on the side of the trans. It would be the one that lock the converter. Anyone whith some more info???? I'm hoping and easy fix
