99 Ranger Drive shaft
99 Ranger Drive shaft
Hi everyone, looking for a replacement driveshaft for a Ranger that the shaft broke in half on. The truck is a 99, with the 3.0, auto trans, 126 in wheel base, 2wd and 2 door extended cab. Looking through all the parts stores, the only 126 in wheel base shafts I can find are either for a manual trans or the 4WD version of the truck, can't find the one for the 2WD Auto version of the truck. NAPA does list the one they carry for that version as being for both transmissions. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable? My drive shaft also seems to have a damper of some kind where it goes into the trans but don't see any replacements that are like that but I haven't looked to see if the damper is removeable or not. So just need to see if anyone knows if the auto and manual trans trucks have the same drive shaft. I wouldn't think so but seems like thats the only possibility. Other similarity I've noticed is that the drive shaft is aluminum, and the manual trans replacement ones seem to be the only aluminum ones as well. Thanks!
