92 ranger A/T to M/T swap 2wd

Hey I'm swapping a 5spd trans from an 89 bronco 2 into a 92 ranger. I've got the trans out and was taking some measurements and noticed my driveshaft in the ranger may be to long. Is a 5spd driveshaft shorter then a automatic driveshaft is what I'm really trying to find out. Thank you all

Yes, it should also have a different tail shaft connection

I think the B2 2WD got the M5OD-R1(M5R1) manuals in 1988, I wouldn't swap in an older FM series manual trans
So driveshaft from 2WD manual trans ranger should fit, Regular cab or super cab would be different lengths of course

The B2 is a 4x4 .I'm hoping that I can remove the transfer case from the B2 trans and put the tail shaft end off the Ranger trans on it. And thanks for the driveshaft info.

No, you can't, you can keep transfer case attached and just not shift it out of 2WD, or you will need a different transmission

Automatic trans has one long drive shaft in a 2WD, and a shorter one for 4x4, total rebuild is required to change the shaft, cost wise it is not worth it.

Manual trans has smaller tail shaft which can be changed, not simple but nothing like automatic shaft swap.
But finding the 2WD manual tail shaft and tail shaft housing will be hard

You need to find 2WD manual trans for your Engine size, assuming 2.9l since you were using one from a B2
