ABS problem

I have a 1998 XLT 2wd 5 Speed 2.5 L
ABS light stays on, no speedometer working, [using GPS now]. Changed VSS no improvement, check engine stays on, changed dash panel no change. I have been told to check sensors. Cannot locate them,
missing?? no loose wiring for them on front or rear areas. Any help appreciated with this.

the ABS wire should be visible if you look under each front wheel well. When you first see it, you might think its a break line, but its not. It might have a clip to hold it in place against the frame of the truck. Follow that wire it should go all the way to the brake calipers. Its held in place by a 10 mm bolt. hope this helps

In 98 you may not have 4-wheel ABS, 4-wheel ABS was an option.

You may only have rear wheel ABS, no sensors on front wheels

4-wheel abs will have the circled module in this picture between the battery and fuse box

Yes it is only rear ABS there is only 2 steel lines coming from ABS "brain", there is a Lead with 2 wires that is plugged with a plastic stopper
that looks like factory equipment. The wires on the VSS plug ,according to the wiring diagram I have ,match's one of these wires on the
plugged connector. cannot find any type of connection on rear drum area with any leads coming out.
