Axle Spline confirmation

2004 Ranger EDGE (WOO WOO)

Has the axle code 97 (Open diff)
Has the gear ratio of 4.10
I do believe it is an 8.8 but would me thinking that the 8.8 is a 31 spline be wrong or would I be right?

Edge = 28spline. Probably 8.8.

If it's in a 2004 Edge it would be 28 spline. The only Rangers i know of that came with 31 spline axles are FX4 Level 2 trucks. And those are definitely not open diff. The 2003 and 2004 Edges that I have both are 4.10 gear ratio but 28 spline axles. The 2002 FX4 that I have has a 4.10 Torsen limited slip and is a 31 spline. I hope this helps.

Oh okay I thought with the 8.8's it was 31 and with the 7.5's it was the 28 spline. My mistake

31 spline shafts won't fit in your 28 spline axle tubes. If you wanna go 31 spline you'll have to get a complete axle.
