Blinking overdrive light, only at sustained highway speed.

Brand new to this form but just recently got a 1998 Ford Ranger with the 2.3 l 4-cylinder motor. As the title says I have a blinking overdrive light, but this only happens when I'm going at highway speeds for a sustained amount of time being just a few miles. Could this be one of the solenoids? I'm hoping it's not an entire transmission replacement.

Welcome to the forum

You can read the codes and you will find a transmission code, P07xx
Auto parts stores will read them for free, WRITE DOWN all the codes

Does your speedometer work correctly at those highway speeds?
Computer uses the same speed signal to determine what gear to use, code P0500-Vehicle Speed Sensor(VSS) not working properly

If you turn OD off do you still get flashing OD light at highway speeds?
