Icon4 Cant stop!

Hello everyone! im having problems with my braking system in my 2000 ford ranger. i had just recently replaced my front brakes and calipers (i have drums in the rear) and i had to bleed the brakes, i bleed them starting from farthest from the ABS to the closest, and it went fine, i stopped when only brake fluid was coming out from the bleeder valve. but my brake pedal is somewhat firm, but whenever i start the truck, the pedal just sinks to the floor and returns very slowly. i think air got into the ABS system but im not sure, and i cant bleed the ABS system myself since i dont have the tools to, and my ABS light is on so it doesnt work. Is it air in the ABS? i also have a video

That sounds like a decent amount of air coming from the pedal. I'm wondering if the brake booster diaphragm popped. How hard were you or your helper pumping the pedal?

I dont know about the Ranger, but many tears ago I bled he brakes on my Continental and had total brake failure, only to discover that you had to bleed the system with the engine running.

Figured it out!

Turns out it was the brake booster! After bleeding the abs module (cracking open the lines right on the ABS module) there was no reason for Air in the lines. So I disconnected the vaccum line going to the brake booster and plugged it. And my pedal was just fine. And before I replaced the brakes i could hear the booster starting to go out because every time I would hit the brakes it would make a “froooosh” type of sound. However the truck is not driveable (safely) since the rear drums are shot and the braking is horrible but possible. Going to bring it into a shop so I don’t have to deal with the hassle of removing it and bleeding the entire system

going to bring it into a shop, not going to use a rebuilt since im not exactly sure on how durable they are. and im not sure if the shop im bring it to is going to buy OEM or not. usally i fix parts and work my truck by myself, but doing a brake booster is too much for me
