Why does my brake pedal pulsate, then the abs light comes on?
Hey all, I have a 96 2.3l with rear abs, when I first inherited the truck the abs light was on, and stayed on 24/7, after I installed a new rear abs sensor the light went off, and with new front rotors and pads, the brakes work perfectly. But now, when braking downhill the pedal will pulsate a few times and then the abs light will come on, the pulsating will stop and the brakes are smooth again. Turing the engine off and on resets the abs light. OBD scanner couldn’t pick up any codes. Anyone have any suggestions?
thanks!
thanks!
Pulsing in brake pedal means the ABS valve is opening and closing to prevent wheel lock up, so pulse pedal is "normal" if pressing brakes hard enough, but ABS light shouldn't stay on
OBD readers can't read ABS codes
Check brake fluid level, that can trigger ABS light when brakes are used and it won't go off until key is turn off and on again

Yeah fluid levels are fine, and yeah the brakes will pulse a few times before ABS light comes on, and stays on. would bleeding the rear brakes possibly help?
