Diesel Engine Swap Automatic Transmission ?

Hello and good afternoon!

This is my first post on the Ranger-Forums. I've got a question about swapping in the 1.9L or 2.0L Volkswagen TDI engine. My question pertains on how to get the 5R44E automatic transmission to talk with the TDI ECU. I read that you could use an aftermarket transmission controller but I have not found one that is designed to work with the 5R44E transmission. As always if there is a way to pin it out to work with the TDI ECU I'd rather do that as it's one less thing to have to wire in. I've done a ton of searching and googling but have not come up with any answers. Any guidance you can give would be great.

You won't have good results.
You need to use the Ranger ECU to control transmission, and it is setup with gasoline engine shift points.

You would be way better off with manual trans

Thanks for the advice but I'm not looking to use a manual transmission. I'm hoping that someone has worked on this or done a swap that is using an automatic.

Thanks again for the reply.
