diff problem i have some questions?
ok i have a 02 fx4 with twin sticks. i was driving today and i got a loud noise coming from the rear end. once i got home i pulled the diff cover to reveal the case that holds the spider gears was cracked in half. further searching i found out it was a recall. so i called ford and they told me it was already fixed and there is nothing they would do. so im trying to find a part number to get a price and i cant find anything. so while looking it seems they run anywhere from 300 on up to 800 for a locker. so how much does a stock diff cost and how much does a detroit locker cost. i mean if they are close ill just buy a locker. but first i need a part number for the whole assembly. any help i would highly appreciate!!!! also how much would a aussie locker cost.

Use the search button at the top and look up axle codes. The code is posted on the door post sticker drivers side.
Write it down.
Go to a junkyard and grab a limited slip rear.
That would be the quickest, easiest way to go.

I have a 31spline Torsen LS from an '05 Level II(post recall) with only 30,000 miles on it. It's from the same axle that's in your truck, but it's way past the recall ones. Shoot me a PM if you're interested. Full carrier lockers and LS's start at about $400. I'll beat that by quite a bit.
That exact axle is REALLLLY rare being it's a Ranger width 31spline axle. I wouldn't want to put in a 8.8 28 spline in it.
