Engine trouble
I need some help. I just put a fairly new motor (48k miles) in my truck. It's a 93 ranger with a 3.0. old motor and new one both same size and year Ran great for a day or two. I got gas and added injector cleaner and went for a small test drive. Noticed temp gauge rising and stopped to check it out. Heater hose had cracked so I cut the end off and put it back on. Went 4 more miles to car wash (8miles total). Overheating again.not real bad about 3/4 of the gauge. Let it cool down and started home. I didn't make it. When it quit I heard gurgling from the motor. Called a friend and pulled it home. No water in the oil , but water in the air tube and throttle body. Now it won't start and almost sounds like a timing problem. Will occasionally clank when turning over. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Reads like a cracked head, make bad head gasket, long shot is lower intake gasket
The coolant in the intake and cranking issue can mean hydro-lock is occurring, a cylinder is getting coolant inside it and it can't compress liquid so it stops on compression stroke, which can damage piston and rod
Pull out Fuel pump relay or fuel pump fuse
Pull out all the sparking plugs and crank the engine over, look for coolant spraying out of a cylinder's spark plug hole
Where did the new engine come from?
