Icon4 Clutch replaced...please help with one thing..

I replaced a clutch - 97 ranger 2wd with the 4 cyl. for my father in law. I can't get the slave cylinder hydraulics connected. What is the trick? I removed them by sliding the white plastic piece forward. It looks like it should just snap into the housing, but I can' push the piece in far enough. Please help...that's all that's left!

why are you changing out the clutch and not the slave? it would really benefit you if you changed the slave. and the hoses should slide right on

i didn't change it cuz its not that old and it's fine. The connection will not just slip right in, believe me, I wish it would.

Is there any moving part on the end of the slave cylinder? It seem like the slave cylinder isn't allowing the connector to go all the way in.

no, did not bend or break anything. I pushed the white plastic piece up and the connector slipped right off. Found the info on this forum, which is really helpful.

every once in a while i had one that wouldnt pop back in all the way. double check the retaining fingers inside the slave connection, make sure the white collar isnt bent up in any way, and maybe crack the bleeder open and try it.

WooHoo!!! got it on...apparently, the new o-ring was too large. Put the old one on and it slipped right in. Thanks so much for your help.

Glad you got it!

That actually happened to me when I just did mine about a month ago. First time it's ever happened too!

I ended up wearing a pair of tough leather gloves and went to town on it. she went in after that.....haha
