Front end shakes
Front end shakes
Looking for some help on my 2004 ford ranger 4x4. It's got a front end shake that is starting to get quite bad. Becoming to violent to ignore...
Im more or less looking for a starting point of what part should be the first that I replace. I have jacked the truck up and checked the wheel bearings for play. Even with a large pry bar under the tire there seems to be none. Don't seem to be any odd noises coming from the front end... other than worn bushing noises when hitting large bumps.
Do you guys think it could be a cv joint? Even with no clicking noise's or visible wear. Or could it be a worn out wheel bearing, again with no noises or visible wear. Could it be an unbalanced front driveshaft? I did replace the clutch half a year ago or so and possibly didn't put in the front driveshaft the exact same way. Seems to be around the same time that the shake started.
I've ruled out it being unbalanced tires because it's a shake that is kind of intermittent. Sometimes it will shake and sometimes it doesnt. Sometimes it feel's like it is coming from the drivers side and sometimes it feels from passenger. Seems like hitting bumps sometimes make's it come and go. Sometimes it starts to shake the whole truck and can feel it in the steering wheel. I have also rotated the tires to every possible combination to try to rule out an unbalanced one
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Jacob
