I think i was having problems with this a year or so ago when i was daily driving my truck again but i dont drive it enough now to notice. this is the only reply I got. But i think i found out i had a bad balljoint sometime after that.

That could be it also my front brakes have a slight drag on them not sure why but if im on a slight slope the truck wont roll and if i have it jacked up the tires dont spin freely if you spin them they slow down really fast. but im not sure if i still have the problem of it turning when driving

My 89 Ranger did something similar once and I ended up noticing that I'd broken the front end off of a leaf spring. After it broke it wedged itself into the front spring hanger. The axle was moved forward by this, about 2-3 inches. It drove straight, but if you got on it it'd pull one way.

This is my first post on this forum but i hope it helps. I had the same problem. Very bad at highway speeds. I am a mechanic. I checked everything. Brakes ball joints, tires, alignment, It took me a while to get to the bottom of this. What i eventually found was my leaf springs. Nothing was broken. But they were weak and my axle was shifting. I bought a set from an auto wrecker that had 20,000 km's added an aal. and the problem was gone. I noticed i still had a decent amount of axle wrap. so i built my self some trac bars. My rear axle doesn't move at all anymore. My truck is more stable then it ever was. If it had anything to do with your brakes it would not change when you step on the gas only under braking. Mine leafs were so bad that when i dumped the clutch from a dead stop the passenger rear tire would hit the fender. 3" away.....

You know, i'm not sure if it's true. . . . but it's something major. It is so bad that it throws my truck sideways. But if i feather the throttle, or feather me letting off of the throttle then i'm more in control.

Sure, it might hop or bounce (break u-joints) with axle wrap but I just can't see one moving that far. No way. During axle wrap the axle turns ON ITS OWN AXIS.

Believe what you want. I am telling you this as a fact. The wheel knocked my flair off and bent the lip behind it. As the axle twists it moves forward. a small amount of wrap and you will not notice it move forward. dump the clutch in a manual and get some one to watch how far the axle moves forward. My case was extreme because of the abuse i have put the springs through. It is not a lie it is fact.
