"low" gears are numerically high. A low gear would be 3.90, 4.10, 4.56, 5.10 etc. Best for low end speed, towing, off-road, compensation for larger tires.

"high" gears are numerically low. Such as 2.76, 3.23, 3.55 and such. More suited for top end speed, and more desirable cruising rpm.

He's talking about the actual cut for the gears. I think the fronts are high pinion but I don't remember.

97 and older is reverse rotation, 98 and up is standard rotation. I think he got those mixed up.

Yeah I don't think there is a high pinion 8.8. High pinion means the pinion gear sits up high.

In 1998 the Ford Ranger went to a Dana 35 IFS front axle. The Dana 35 IFS switched from a reverse rotation gear to standard rotation gear. The gears in a 1997 and older Ranger/Explorer will not work in the 1998 and newer Rangers.

You have reverse rotation. You don't need Beard you just need to search a bit.

Yep thats where I got my info from. So any 84-97 Expo or Ranger will work.
