i need to regear my 3.0 whats ur input?
im running 265/75/16
do you think 4.88 is to much for my 5 speed 3.0? or would 4.56 be enough. i off road but i also travel highway alot more. i have no acceleration and feel the power being sucked out thru the tires.
will my stock axel take it? ill get the numbers tomorow.
should i go up to 8.8 rearend?
isnt there a regear calculator somewhere? i can find it
isnt there an almost complete swap out with a exploer?

NEVER, EVER regear a 7.5
If you you need to regear get an expo 8.8. That way to upgrade to discs, 31-splines, and you aren't wasting any money. Go with 4.56s if you plan on never lifting or going up tire size, if you plan on doing so i nthe near future wait to regear to 488s

How about this? I know its 4.10s not 4.56 and its cheap. How much would it cost to rebuild it? Could I keep it under $100

If you are gonna axle swap might as well go with a 8.8 31-spline with disks. In my world, if I have the truck up and out of commission I am going to do as much to it as possible in that time. For example, in January I am putting front lift on, while I have the weekend off ant the truck is parked I am going to do an Expo rear disk swap. The only advantage to the 8.8 28-spline from a Ranger is you won't have to get the spring perches swapped.
As for price. You can get the axle on the cheap. Like $100 from an old Expo. Then you will need to get the brakes all redone. New pads, rotors, cables, springs. Then you need to paint it up. Then you need u-bolts and backing plates. Then you need new spring perches and have them welded on if you can't. Then you need D35 IFS gears, and 8.8 gears. I would go with 4.88s if you plan on eventually running 35s within the year. Your gas mileage is gonna suck till then though. To have the front and rear diff regeared it will run around $800-$1500. Assuming that you don't have the tools and knowledge to do it yourself. It is not exactly something a backyard mechanic can do.
At the end of the day it will run around $1500 total. And no, you cannot have different gears in the front and back. They have to match.
