input speed sensor wiring
input speed sensor wiring
Hi everyone. Newly joined member here but been reading the forum for help for some time so thanks for all the help in the past.
I do have a question. I have a 2000 ranger with the 4r44e transmission in it. I am replacing the input speed sensor. The new one has the wires opposite from the new one on the connecor, in other words backwards. Is this sensor polarity sensitive or does it matter? Figured it would be easier to correct it now before installing the transmission back in the truck. Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to the forum
4R44E didn't have an input shaft speed sensor
If its an internal sensor then it would be TSS, turbine shaft speed sensor, it is a 2 wire VR(variable reluctance) sensor so no polarity, as far as I know
Some earlier(1997-2000) had an external sensor, on top of trans near bellhousing, that was called input shaft speed sensor but it was never used, never connected to computer internally
2001 and up used ISS(intermediate shaft speed) sensor, this was external sensor located above shifter on drivers side of transmission
