Limited slip diff off a Explorer fit a ranger?
My answer would be, "Yes and No" !
As 2011SuperCab stated it has different Spring mounting methods so that is a no, but there is a kit out there to mimic a reversed Spring Mounting on an Explorer Rear Axle Housing and this becomes a bolt in.
Also, you can, with a little welding, add new spring perches to an Explorer Axle and cut off the OEM Perches, and then bolt it in.
Both methods of installing the Ex Axle in the Ranger are acceptable but more costly than jus bolting in.
Your call on how BUT, if you have an Ex Axle Housing, you may have 31 spline axles, a Limited Slip Diff, maybe Disc Brakes, what you gain by having this rear Axle install is far more than the cost of installation.
Also, you need to do the usual stuff, hookup brake lines, e-brake cable need modification to work, I am not sure if there is a cable that just works, shocks may not be correct, these are things that you would face no matter which process you take.
Read the How-Tos on this swap, if you haven't already find Explorer Axle Housing with Disc Brake, a little more work with the hook up but more gain.
Don't let the spring perches cause you a problem it isn't the worst thing to do or have done, there are people that have mobile welding so if you set it up they can do the welding.

I see, welding is no problem I have a welder and I'm not afraid to use it! What years of Explorer should be compatible with a 02' Ranger? 01-03? I have an 8.8 will I be able to find a 8.8 LS diff? And good idea on the disc brakes I didn't even think about that, whats the advantage of disc brakes over drums anyway?
