linkage, brace, bracket WHAT IS IT!

I recently purchased a 1990 ford ranger 2wd, 2.3L4, 5 speed transmission. On the driver's side, under the oil filter is a piece of mettle that is bolted to the transmission and to the engine. Whatever bolt was holding the piece to the engine looks like it backed itself out. the now hanging piece looks like it may have taken a couple blows. I don't think I can get away with just replacing the bolt. I would like to replace the whole piece but I can't find it anywhere in the manuals. what is this piece and what does it do, where can I get a replacement? Help me ranger wizards! your my only hope!
