Can any of you experts out there help me out. I have a 2006 Ranger STX, 5r44e, 3.0L. I have been trying to get the full/long part number for the seperator plate for the valve body, so far I have a lot of conflicting info.. I have been told "7z490" and/or "7z492". The local dealer told me it was "not serviced", whatever that means..

Not serviced

Not serviced is supposed to mean it is not available as a seperate part from ford. I don't know if that is a correct statement

seperator plate

Thanks. “not serviced” doesn’t make a lot sense to me either. After making some more inquires at several on-line Ford parts suppliers, I have been told that the plate number for the 2002 model is still the one to use. ( 1L5Z-7Z490-BA ). You don’t see much discussion about the later model Rangers, 2004~2009. Has anyone with one of these experienced the 2~3 shift or slow engagement problems? It’s not too bad on my truck, just annoying and very consistent. It doesn’t matter if it’s hot or cold, or if you go from P->D five times in a row. The delay is always there at ~3sec. By the way, reverse engagement is quick with no delay. I’ve read both pro and con of external filters for these transmissions, is it worth adding one on during the upgrade? My goal is to make it last as long as possible. I had a 94 model w/A4LD that finally gave up after 180k.
