Metal thump when braking
Hi guys made a user name just to try to figuer this out. 2001 ranger 4x4 176k miles
im getting a metal clunk/thump whenever i brake. It gives feed back on the petal. It happens every once in a while like 2 out every 6 times i brake. I cant really pint point by sound where its coming from. I changed the brakes, rotors. Checked fluid in both differentials and cannot see anything that would get hung up anywhere. Anybody have any idea what i should check next? Thanks guys.

Just ignore my original reply, it didn't load your entire post before I responded. New the the forum world. My bad 🤦
I had a similar issue. Turned out to be one of the bolts that holds the brake caliper on the rotor and sheared off and was wedged in the caliper. It would vibrate and make a terrible metal bringing noise when I applied the brakes. But sometimes it would do nothing or just a popping sound. Good luck!
