Need help with 2004 4x4 Ranger

Hey everyone,

I have a 2004 Ford Ranger 4x4 with manual trans. The truck has an issue when running in 4x4 Lo or Hi, the issue is when driving along the 4x4 will make a pretty loud clunk, like the 4x4 is disengaging and re-engaging itself. Happens more frequently when it is warmed up.

I have changed out the transfer case fluid already with no change, anyone have any ideas? I read once that there is a sensor under there somewhere that is known to go bad that may cause this.

Thoughts?

Thanks

If i'm not mistaken this could be a vacuum problem? Not sure if the 2004 uses vacuum however. Someone who knows things will come along shortly.
