Yeah, I inspected it... LOL,

Well, went and bought some cheaper gear oil for now, new silicone and cleaned and prepped both surfaces. Adhered the silicone, tightened all the bolts in a star like pattern by hand, added gear oil (2.75-2.85qts) put the plug back in and took it for a higher speed test drive (roughly 55mph, and so far so good, no noise or weird feelings). Hope it stays like this til I can work on it next.

I'll get the pic of the inside of the diff cover posted later... No splits, so no need to replace it. Just dented from the bolt head flying around in the diff.

I'm shocked that is what broke. I say drive home. Good luck! Make sure you get that fixed soon though.

Here's what a prestine Torsen T2 looks like...

I kinda want him to get it here and let me tear into it. Just having that head bust off is WEIRD. I know those inner 4 bolts are to part of the internals. Maybe Justie can chime in as he's taken his Torsen apart a few months back.

Is the case cracked or is it just an illusion?
i thought the same thing but its hard to see if its a seam in the casting or a crack

It's just a seam in the casting. When they crack its obvious.

Overall I was not impressed with the quality of the torsen unit, based on appearance. Though it performed well, until it blew up.

No, but if I did, i would send you one.
I have always used Detroit Lockers for the rear and the only one truck with a front traction device had an OX Locker so I am limited in the parts.
I’ve got some bed bolts or a nice assortment of Button Head Machine Screws, LoL…

Luck on finding the one you need.

Why don't you have a front driveshaft?

i think you would be ok to drive (even though i'm sure you already have)

pull that old bolt out with a screw/bolt extractor, drill a small hole in the middle of the remaining section of the bolt and turn slowly...

because he just put in a manual T-case, and doesnt have a driveshaft long enough. The SL shaft was too short. the manual T-cases are smaller than the electronic ones, therefore the distance the arm has to reach is farther.

Actually it's the front output flange that is shorter... Not the actual case itself, lol. Nice guess though Stephen!

Consider it a minor setback.

Considering I've only owned my ranger for 3 months, and I knew my way around cars before, but only been digging really deep into them for the last 3 months, I think I'm doing pretty good. Lol
