No brakes
No brakes
I have a 98 ford ranger. The brakes went out over night. Meaning I don't drive it everyday. I thought I needed new brake pads so I replace them. Than I thought I had a hole in the line because I still didn't have no brakes, but I checked all the lines and no leaks. Now I replace the master cylinder, but I can't get the brakes to bleed, pump backup and nothing. I'd appreciate any help you could get me.

No brakes...................
When you push down on the pedal does it just go all the way down to the floor?
When you push down on the pedal does it just stop and you can't push it down any more?
Open the hood and look next to the master cylinder you just replaced do you see this: https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...10226-1819.jpg
This means you have 4 wheel ABS, if you don't see this then you have rear ABS
So which is it?
Is you engine idling higher than normal?
Above 1,000RPMs
If so Power Booster may be leaking so no Power Brakes, just have to press on the pedal REAL HARD to get it to stop

Master might still have air or air in the lines. If you have or can get an air compressor, make a power bleeder. All you need is a reservoir cap, rubber gasket, and air fitting. Drill hole in cap small enough to screw in the air fitting to match your hose coupler, cut hole in center of rubber gasket, put cap on, set the compressor regulator to 10-20 lbs air pressure, hook up hose, proceed to bleed calipers and wheel cylinders, I do this on all my cars and trucks, even with ABS. Works great.Even made one for my Toyota, it will bleed some air out of the cap but thats ok. I just did my 95 with 4w abs. I replaced every line. It will also force old fluid and crap out of the system.
I have rear abs. When I push on brakes they go to floor, but if I pump them they still go down but I have little brake. Idk about rpms. Someone else said it may be booster. Will check that.
