99 Ranger 4x4, Ext Cab, Automatic, 4.0 V6, 152,000mi

Yetserday I was backing out of the driveway- made it about 15ft & heard/felt a bang underneath me. I hit the brakes in case I ran over something by accident- all was clear so I tried to continue....no reverse. I was out of the drive enough I could get on the street & buzz around the block testing it out. All gears worked Forward, 4x4 Hi & Lo worked, just no reverse.

SO.... can I just replace a bad gear in an Auto Trans or am I looking at a full tranny replacement? Anything else I should know/look for/tips/tricks/help?

Mine did that. No reverse but drive was fine. It was low on fluid, try that but most likely its is the trans going out.
