O/D & Gearing
O/D & Gearing
I have a 2003 Ranger with the 2.3 duratec Auto 5 speed and 4.10 rear. I've never owned a ranger or a ford. I wanted to know if i'm hitting overdrive or not. When driving at 75mph my rpm's are 3k (or more). To me this seems a little high but im not sure if its just a ranger thing. My tire size is 235/75r17 and it is lowered. My O/D button does work but i'm told all that does is keep you in a lowered gear. Could someone let me know if this sounds about right?

Answer:At 70 mph with 29-inch diameter tires at 2,500 RPM, the calculated gear ratio is 3.08:1.
