ya all i did was cut it out... im not sure if you have to cut it, part of it maybe used to hold the gas tank/gas tank skid plate... if it helps i can go get some pictures to show you if you want.

If you cut it out, Where do you get a shaft with no joints in the middle?
one of the u-joints on mine I think are going bad, and it probaly would hurt to cut out the nasty piece in the middle.

Doesn't it also unbolt too?
As soon as my u-joints go out, I'm doing this.

this is a right up on TRS but they just got rid of the carrier bearing part... i just cut the whole bracket and so did someone else i know and havent had any issue with it... you may also need to trim the gas take skid plate... when i flex m driveshaft rubs on it...

Im doing a one piece swap in mine next weekend and cant wait, tired of buring carrier bearings up. Im jus cutting the k-member, its not for support or anything its just there to hold the bearing on mine. Also TRS write up at the bottom is wrong, the drive shaft i got came out of a 98 ranger super cab 2wd and its not alum. its steel.
