Overfilled with tranny fluid. Problem?

About a month ago, I had the auto trans in my '94 XLT rebuilt. I am not entirely confident about the quality of the work but I won't go into this here. It now drips onto my driveway so I have twice checked the level using the procedure described in the manual. I'm not a mechanic but I'm not an idiot either. What I mean is, I think I am performing this check correctly. By my estimation, it is overfilled by quite a bit. The dipstick has a cross-hatched area (good) and the words "Don't Add" north of there. Each time my level is almost to the "A" in Add.

I took it back to the shop (for another reason) and mentioned the leak. (I had not found out about the over-filled situation at this point) They claimed they "re-torqued the bolts" and said I had oil leaking (not sure I buy that) - but it made no improvement that I can see. For the first time since the re-build, I engaged 4wd while driving during a heavy rain storm. I have not re-checked the level since doing this (if it matters)

Is the "overfilled" situation cause for concern? Could it contribute in some way to the leaking situation?
