P0705/P0708 and Flashing O/D Light

Hello All, a couple days ago i went to leave work in my 2009 Ford ranger Sport 2wd, put her In D and started to drive off and when i went to put my foot back on the gas the Tach shot up to about 3k and there was no movement from the truck the OD light started Flashing and threw those 2 codes p0705 and p0708, replaced the TRS cleared the codes and the problem still persists When in D it will barely move unless i almost floor it and in R it has the same issue but not as severe, but if i get it up to around 60KMH in 2nd then shift to D it will shift perfectly into 3rd and 4th. Please help any info or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum

You have a 5R55E automatic in 2009 4.0l Ranger, or 5R44E in a 2.3l Ranger, doesn't much matter, same transmission inside

Your front one-way clutch(Sprag) has failed, so rebuild time

One-way clutch is used to get you moving in D or R
If you shift to 1st or 2nd manually then the Coast clutch is used to get you moving, so you can then shift to D and it works now
This is not a solenoid or valve body issue, which is why shifting while moving works

The Codes are not related to this, flashing OD light maybe, there would be no code for this type failure, codes are for electrical failures, this is mechanical

If you drop the pan you will find metal bits from the sprag in the pan
Trans needs full rebuild so really can't hurt it much to keep driving it, but it will just quit one day the metal bits are pretty hard on rotating parts, lol

If you look for a used one then it must match the engine, i.e. 4.0l or 2.3l, and Drivetrain, i.e. 2wd or 4wd, must be a 2001 to 2011 to have the correct sensors

https://www.car-part.com/ is a good place to look
