Please HELP!! Transmission issue

I have a 2002 Ranger 3.0 Manual Trans. If I sit in the truck when completely OFF or ON , it will not go into 4th. It will go into every gear except 4th. The clutch pedal feels fine.

Thanks in advance!

Linkage out of adjustment? Could there be a perished bushing?
I don't know the transmission guts. Could a synchro have perished?

Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. I'm only in these forums occasionally. I'd be interested in hearing if you found the problem.

The 3-4 synchro couples the synchro hub and the 3rd gear speed gear when the fork moves the sleeve in one direction and the synchro hub and the input shaft when moved in the other direction. That's why 4th gear is 1:1, the two shafts are joined as one. It sounds like either the the 3-4 shift fork or rails, the synchro and input shaft parts involved or the bearings that hold the input shaft in place is where your problem lies. You can inspect the first two by removing the top cover (have it in neutral). but this requires removing the transmission. Good luck.
