ranger clutch master cylinder compatibility

I have a 91 ford ranger v6 4.0 2wd single cab. I currently need to replace the clutch master cylinder on it, and it seems as though I have been running the 3.0 master on it rather than the 4.0 master for the past few years, and I have the lifetime warranty on the 3.0 master . Autozone is showing that there are two different clutch master cylinders, one for the 3.0, and one for the 4banger and the 4.0. is there a real difference between the two? I would rather save myself the 55 dollars and just swap out my old master on warranty, but I would like to know if there is a real difference between the two.

If the current master worked before, and the warranty master is the exact same thing replacing it, then go for the warranty one.
