Regear help

I just lifted my ranger and have 31s under it. I have a open 7.5 with 3.73s. I am just going to regear it since I cant find a good deal on a 8.8. I was going to buy the gears online and and have a shop put them in. Out of these gears I want the 4.10s but I see there are a few different brands. What are the best brand to choose?

Also what install kit do I need? I have 35,000 miles on the axle.

How would this work for LS?

Thanks for the help guys!

Well im gonna have to look elsewhere for an axle. Junkyards around here think everything is worth a fortune, both 8.8s I have found were both over five hundred and thats tyhe lowest they would go!. I dont see any peroblem with regearing my axle but i'd really prefer an 8.8. I just wanna get my power back!

You'd spend about that between the cost of gears, an install kit, and labor to set them up.

Ya might as well by the 8.8 with gears already in it.

I think it cost about $600 to have them installed. you may be able to find somone on here to help you out with the gear install though.

Well I'll wait a little and keep a look out for an 8.8. Do you need to replace anything on the 8.8? seals or anything before you swapit in? Thanks for the advice guys

depends on the quality of the axle and the usage.

I have an 8.8 just sitting that is partially sold.

Sold it for 150 with 4.10s and a LS

yea. dont regear your 7.5.... get an 8.8

even if you pay $500 for the axle, you're still saving money after you pay for labor
