Icon9 Need tranny help!!!

I am havinserious tranny issues. First off my vehicle is a 1997 ford ranger xlt. 2 door reg cab. 2wd. 4r44e automatic. The problem is when in drive it goes into first and goes to about 15mph then shifts to second which takes me up to about 30. After that it just winds out like third gear isnt there? If i manually shift and put it into 2nd. I can get it up to around 45 but the engine is reving kind of high. Any ideas what this could be? I was thinking "limp home mode" cuz i have first and second, but there are no check engine lights. Any help is very much appreciated!

I've got the same problem with the same vehicle - just started a few days ago. I was having some leakage so im hoping i just need to flush my fluid, fingers crossed that no replacement is required

Well turns out i blew my 3rd gear band. And i am having the tranny rebuilt. If you need a rebuild ive heard they have a kit with a revised 3rd gear band. Cuz this is supposedly a relativly common problem with this particular tranny. Anyway good luck. Hope you dont need the rebuild.
