Icon3 Locker: yes or no?

So, I've decided I definitely need a locker, but I havent decided exactly which one I want. It's either going to be an ARB air locker, or the Eaton E Locker. Does anyone have any experience with either of these? Do you think I might be going "overkill"? Any input is much appreciated.

ARB is good but you have to buy a compressor and run air lines. E locker is great as well. If you have a 2 8 spline axle then your only option is a Powertrax locker.

E locker is open when unlocked and Auburn ECTED is a L/S when off.

yes. uses a switch internally to 'lock' it. just like the ARB uses air to 'lock' it.

Might want to check out OX Lockers as well if your set on a selectable locker. Its cable driven instead of electric or air. Fetches a pretty price, but is a nice unit.

I can't wait to get some income...i love my Aussie...but it's sometimes VERY awkward with a manual. Always wanted an Ected or a e-locker.

I have an aussie in a 31spline Fx4 Ranger axle....same axle but perches and shock tabs in the right places, and the tubes a little shorter than the expo.

I have a quick question about the selectable lockers thats always bothered me..

when engaged, weather it be the ARB or something else, is it like a spool? or does it still ratchet?

As far as I know, it turns into a spool, otherwise, you might as well just use a LSD.

idk what I want to do..spools or slectable ones? haha if its a trail rig only i really don't need selectable lockers.

as to your origional question.. YES on the lockers, you have no idea how much of a difference they make until you actually do it.

Spool rear, selectable front. Makes it easier on the arms.

But I think you already have a spool in the front, so thats out ahah.

it doesn't..
and a locker doesn't compare to a spool, but its a hell of a lot closer than a limited slip.

ARB, E locker, and OX are all "spools" when locked. There is no "disengaging" (ratcheting) unless you break it or something else.

The Elocker comes in 28 spline, I used to have it.

The Ected is a glorified limited slip. It's never mechanically locked, just uses electric to HIGHLY load the clutch packs. You also have to pay them and send your old when when it needs to be rebuilt. Look up J Grigg's old posts for more info. I BELEIVE it's 150-200 to get it rebuilt. Probably don't need to rebuild it much, but it can wear out.

one of the lockers you can take apart and manually lock if need be.

the ARB you can run off an air tank/bubble or CO2 tank, no need for the compressor/relays/switches/wiring blah blah blah.. and someones going to say "no you can't" it happens everytime.

Yeah but with the money you are going to spend on an air tank, and the lines, wouldn't it just make sense to get a compressor? A good one costs what, 350-400? Then you have unlimited air, and you can air up your tires however many times you want. Just my .02
