Icon9 Shifting is real stiff?!?!?

So i jus bought a 97 XLT 4x4 its a 5 speed and 160xxx miles.. And im going to replace the clutch and slave cylinder soon.... But Its when ever i go from 1st to 2nd or any other gear it seems really stiff and kinda rough?? Idk if this is how all rangers r or what?? Is it as simple as putting new fluid in or if its the whole tranny?? I have a 95 cobra with almost 210xxx and shifts smoother then this thing does haha

Dump the tranny fluid and see if some idiot used gear oil instead of ATF in there.
At 160K it wouldn't hurt to change it anyway.
