Slave cylinder leaking between oil pan and housing belt
Hello I own a 2008 Ford ranger xlt 2.3 engine manual transmission. Just a day ago while driving I noticed a weird noise coming from under my truck it sounded like a fan rubbing up agsints a leaf while shifting only into first gear. Then when I pulled up to my drive way as I engaged into first gear My pedal lost pressure and got stuck on the floor I had to push it back up by putting my toes under clutch pedal then as I tried to put it on reverse it stopped grabbing the gears because pedal lost pressure. I then noticed a little bit of white smoke coming from under my truck so I panicked and started pushing my truck onto my drive way instead. then realized clutch fluid leaking from under truck. I inspected the clutch pedal from floor and it was dry. I opened up the master resevoir and it was empty. I filled it b
ack up and pumped the pedal a few times then I noticed a line of fluid leaking from under the housing belt.. and it would stop when no longer pressing the pedal. I also pulled the rubber from inspection whole thinking it would be filled with fluid but it was dry I even stuck my fingers inside and only got grease. No fluid leak there. But it's leaking through that whole on picture. Could it be a bad o ring seal on line? Or could it be the slave took a dump? I'm trying to figure it out so that I can find a mechanic to replace my slave.. I really don't have much funds to do a new clutch and fly wheel. The clutch has always shifted like butter even while first experiencing the slight noise that then followed this problem. Any ideas? Please I would appreciate any help. I live in los angeles county and mechanics that are honest are hard to come by here. I would like to know if it's my slave so i can strictly let them know it's the slave and not try to talk me into other things I don't need. If I could drop my trany myself I would do the replacement... my buddy has a car lift and if I know how to drop tyranny I figured on a car lift would be easier. Thank you guys.
But disconnect the hose from master to slave, no fluid will come out
Press down on clutch pedal, should be rock hard shouldn't move at all, keep some pressure on it for a few seconds to see if its leaking fluid
If it stays hard then slave is what is leaking
The "quick disconnect" fitting on the end of the master's hose has a valve inside so no fluid can leak out when its off the slave
You can replace the master first if you want to rule that out

And ehat you hust provided to me will help me rule out one thing to get closer to finding out if slave is what took a dump. Do you have a link or can you explain to me where the "quick disconnect is located? I'd love to jump on this early tomorrow morning ing thank you again
