Slipping Tranny?

I just put in a used tranny with 72k miles on it. Put new fluid, filter, and converter. Now, when I put it in drive it takes about 10 secs for it to go into gear. Once I take off it will slip trying to go into 2nd. But, if I manually shift it, it is ok. I can then put it back in drive and its fine after that as far as the shifting on its own. I have no clue as to what causes this unless its internal. Any one have a idea what this is and how to fix it?

i had it repaired under warranty. lol so no clue what the actual problem was.
