ok so i have an automatic trans, and most of the time i'll be backing up and once i put the truck in drive and press the gas, there is this weird pause where it feels like the gears don't catch or the clutch doesn't go in. anyone have any idea of what the hell im talking about?

this is my first truck but i know it never did that in my dads automatic mustang.

 

Check the tranny fluid. Make sure it's not low or burnt.

 

do you come to a complete STOP, then put it in drive?? theres going to be a little pause for the gears to engage...like 1 second..

 

Search for "Slip Yoke"

 

ya you have to come to a complete stop to shift smoothly.

 

yeah i stop completely. ill check the trans fluid tho
