so it started yesterday, no vibrations or clunking. just a squeak in reverse.

so i know what it is, get to work this morning and find this.

yeah that water crossing at the mounds probably didnt help.

plus the loc-rite seems to not like the rear u joint.

 

i attribute it to the rear locker. when it was 2wd the stock one did this same thing at or around 38K. i have no clue as to how many miles are on this used 4x4 explorer shaft but this i do know, i have put around 8K on it sense it was installed in my truck.

oh well it got a pair of brute force joints today so all is good.

surface rust, no big deal!

i'd do something about it but another used shaft is only 50 bucks.

you should see my poison ivy, makes the shaft look new!
