Kinda turning into a 8.8 swap thread.

This started as a "how the hell do I get this rotor off thread?", but now I figure I'll update and share some of the fun times I come across doing this.

The axle is out of a 98 Explorer, 3.73, l/sd, 68k

I had originally gotten a 28 spline, but it needed axles and ring and pinion and had drums, so I gave up on it.

I figured I'd be better off with this one.

I'll update slowly, seeing as how I'm never on. lol I hope to have this in by the end of the month.

The drum brake are loose the axles spin freely, it's just a little stuck.
OK you got me a little ????

You taking off a drum or a rotor?

Did you try beating the rotor on instead of off, as that should loosen it hammering it on.

^this.
Get the Sledgehammer out, Hit it on the studs, then off the studs, then on the studs until its moves a bit more, Then go to the ballpark on it man.

^^^ what he said try hitting in instead of out to break the corrosion. also pulling the axle shaft might give you more options for getting the rotor off. good luck!

I finally got it off. Just needed a bigger fking hammer. lol I did it without breaking any wheel studs too.

The rotor has a drum brake inside for the parking break, like on alot of fullsize trucks.

Yeah the Expo disc brakes have 7in emergency brakes inside the rotors. They tend to seize.

Surprisingly not the hardest brakes I've done.

Got them off new pads and rotors ready to go.

Just gotta replace all the rear hose because the jy decided to cut the main line, and knicked the right side with the torch.

No one around has them, Dealer has to order them and wants 45 and 57 bucks each side. Rock auto has em for 9 and 15. Score.

RuffStuff will be shipping out the goods tomorrow. Can't wait.
