Stuck In 4x4 Low

I had to use 4wd to back up onto a dirt driveway. I was in a rush and forgot to switch it back into 2 before killing the motor, then immediately remembered and switched it back to 2 without starting back up. Next time I got in the truck remained in 4x4 low, I flipped the switch back to 4x4 low then back to 2 but it remained on 4x4 low. And this isn't just the dash saying it's on 4x4 low, it physically is stuck there. I tried disconnecting the battery thinking it may be electrical, but it didn't work. The truck is still in 4x4 low and I was wondering if somebody might know how I can fix this.

What year Ranger?
Manual or automatic?

4x4 lights are working right?
And not flashing?

Truck should be running and foot MUST be on the brake, and/or clutch pedal must be in.
Automatic should be in Neutral to shift in and out of 4low

Hey man, sorry I haven't replied. I found the issue, I just needed to put it in neutral a couple seconds.
