toasted pilot bearing

Hi guys, I'm a noob on the forum, but need advice. I've had my 2.5 Ranger for 10 years now, only added about 100,000 miles, total on the truck 175,000. Last weekend I noticed a squeak/rattle when the clutch was depressed. The clutch itself had been feeling a little soft for the last 10,000 or so. I knew it was time to do the shebang. I pulled it down today, still have most of my blood. The pilot bearing was dry, missing a needle or two.

So my questions are really about brands. There are too many replacements available. I don't want to waste money, but I hope to get at least another 100K out of this little truck.

What brand clutch, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing should I buy.

Oh yeah, the old wet newspaper and brass drift trick work great to get the pilot bearing out.

Cheers,
JT

I have used LUK Kits quite a few times on different vehicles including Rangers, no complaints.

You MUST use a self-adjusting pressure plate.

Yes, LUK is essentially the same thing as OEM. My original clutch actually had LUK stamped on it. I don't remember the brand of pilot bearing but it was the best I could find.
